Our diagnostic and laboratory service

Our partnership with The Christie Clinic means that we have access to a professionally accredited haematology and blood transfusion department.

The department provides all types of services, including:

  • routine investigations
  • complex diagnostics
  • blood transfusion
  • specialist stem cell processes
  • genetic testing, including cytogenetics for the diagnosis and monitoring of leukaemia and lymphoma.

The Christie Clinic also offers a lump and abnormal blood-count clinic. This is a specialised rapid-access clinic, which means that if you find a suspicious lump or if a blood test leads your GP to suspect you may have a haematological cancer (lymphoma, leukaemia or myeloma), you will be tested and diagnosed without any delays.

This service is provided jointly by oncology and surgical consultants, and enables rapid assessment and diagnosis of your lump or blood test results. If more tests are required, a biopsy can be taken from your bone marrow (for abnormal blood counts) or the lump in order to provide the fastest possible diagnosis.
