The Christie Private Care, part of HCA Healthcare UK, provides cancer treatment for private patients at one of the country’s greatest centres. HCA Healthcare UK have been in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust since September 2010, developing a comprehensive and patient focused service all in one place.
At The Christie Private Care, we aim for excellence at all times. We constantly monitor and review our patient satisfaction scores so that we can continue to develop and improve our services.

We encourage feedback from our staff and patients and are focused on responding and improving our processes when incidents occur or concerns are raised. We are dedicated to the development of staff and support ongoing staff education, training and performance development.

At The Christie Private Care, all staff play a pivotal role in ensuring good governance through continually assessing our performance, proactively responding to feedback and providing shared learning to create ongoing action plans that support us in delivering high quality care.
We are supported by a dedicated Governance Department which provides guidance and co-ordination of:
- Clinical audits
- Patient feedback and complaints management
- Incident management
- Risk management
- Policy development
The team is led by the Head of Governance. The Chief Executive Officer has overall responsibility for the quality of care provided by the hospital and is supported by the Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Director and Consultant Governance Lead.

As Chief Executive Officer, Claire is committed to taking the Joint Ventures division forward as a network of leading private healthcare services. She is responsible for multiple partnership healthcare facilities across the UK, many of which are in collaboration with top teaching hospitals. Claire has been in the healthcare sector for 20 years; in nursing for 13 years before moving to senior management roles. She has been with the HCA UK Joint Ventures division since its inception in 2006, initially as Clinical Services Manager before progressing through the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Regional Director.
Claire is passionate about delivering the highest level of care to all patients at all times by working with the UK’s leading specialists and through the ongoing development of staff. She says, ‘I am incredibly proud of the work we do through our joint partnership with NHS Trusts. Since opening The Christie Private Care, we have developed a comprehensive service across a number of specialities. Providing private patient services to the local community. This is down to the dedication and commitment of our staff, doctors and our forward thinking partners.’

As Regional Director, Lesley Taylor is committed to taking the hospital forward as one of the leading providers in the UK. Lesley has 13 years’ experience in the healthcare sector and is responsible for a network of HCA UK Joint Ventures facilities across the North West. Lesley joined HCA in 2015 and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of services at all times, achieving this through working with the UK’s leading specialists and through the ongoing development of staff. She says, “I am incredibly proud of the work we do through our joint partnerships; we have developed a comprehensive and highly specialised service. This is down to the dedication and commitment of our staff, doctors and partners.”
Andrew Thomas's professional bio
Andrew joined HCA Healthcare UK in March 2017 as Chief Human Resources Officer for Joint Ventures, Labs and LOC (Leaders in Oncology Care). Andrew is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD). Prior to joining HCA UK he was with Spire Healthcare Group (previously BUPA Hospitals) where he held a number of different roles, including Acting Group HR Director, with the last substantive role being Head of Employee Relations & Organisational Development. Andrew also has HR experience in financial services and the public sector. A member of the senior management team, Andrew is responsible for HR strategy and direction and for rolling this out operationally to ensure our people in the business are equipped to fulfil, if not exceed, the requirements of the role for which they are employed. Andrew is passionate about employee relations and engagement.
